This body of work is about the combination of spontaneity and structure. It inserts geometric frames into a loose abstractions in order to draw the eye into flowing lines, texture, and unstructured movement. Portal-like in nature, these frames are about how we see and what we see - about linking the viewer to different levels of consciousness, and in this instance, dream states. In this specific painting, we see a calm, water-like center surrounded by free flowing brushstrokes. It was painted in January, evoking cooler colors and colder weather.
