My work is based on the improvisation of the moment, connected to emotions and guided by the unconscious I am inspired by a text I wrote: (Translated from French) I have skimmed the skies of this earth I have trampled the land of each of my ancestors I am the epic realized I understand the thousand and one languages that have been transmitted to me My heart welcomes all religions My soul dances to the sound of the Slavonic violin My eyes shine with the light of the Mediterranean My gaze seeks the horizon as a promise of the future I am this fear in the stomach of never seeing you again I survived each departure I have jubilated my thousand arrivals I am the torrents of tears shed for our reunion I am the unexpected hope of suspended time I am the joy of the hoped waiting I am the strength of the blood bond I am the eternal memory.

Montreal-based, self-disciplined artist Veronique Besancon was following the European immigration movements of the early 1900; of Hungarian and Russian, French heritage she was raised in France before immigrating to Canada in 1997 armed with her multicultural origins. Always surrounded by art, Besançon has experimented with writing, contemporary dance in Paris, theater in the south of France and for the last ten years, with the visual arts. Her paintings, a reconstruction of her personal journey are inspired by the multiple paths taken through life. Always present in her paintings, the freedom of movement and thought are visually expressed by her rich Mediterranean palette of colours and varied brush strokes. In 2009 Véronique Besançon presented her work for the first time. This is when she discovered the pleasure of sharing and discussing her work with the public. Since then, she has exhibited her paintings in private galleries, public places and virtual spaces.
