“Jedna” is a deeply personal story about a place that still exists on the map — but no longer exists the way I remember it. It is the village of my mother, where every house once had its own birch tree — planted intentionally, for reasons no one fully explained. One of them — tall, beautiful, almos...

My name is Yanya. I was born in Minsk, Belarus, and now I live and create in Warsaw, Poland. I began studying art at the age of 12 and later continued my education at an Art College and the Academy of Fine Arts. In my work, I create worlds that stand somewhere between imagination and emotion. I don’t aim to paint reality as it is — instead, I transform feelings into characters, colors, and playful, sometimes mysterious forms. Color plays a central role in what I do. I use bright, vivid palettes to convey energy, warmth, humor, or subtle tension. My paintings often begin with a single emotional spark — a memory, a mood, a moment — and grow into scenes that feel alive, expressive, and slightly fantastical. Moving to Poland at the age of 30 made my art even more personal. It became a place where I process transition, hope, curiosity, and the strange beauty of new beginnings. Today I continue to paint in Warsaw, creating works that are both light-hearted and emotional — pieces that invite the viewer into a small, colorful universe where everything has a personality and nothing is entirely ordinary.
