Jonah in the Regal Ocean. Blue Sea Life Textured Metallic Painting

This painting is inspired by the Book of Jonah. Despite being called by God to prophesy against the wickedness taking place in the city of Ninevah, Jonah goes in the opposite direction across the sea! His fear and pride gets in the way and he’d rather flea than preach the message of repentance. As a storm appears, Jonah is thrown overboard and a whale saves him by God’s command. While inside the whale’s belly (for 3 whole days!) Jonah repents and cries out to the Lord in prayer. Through his repentance Jonah fulfills his mission and the city of Ninevah also repents. 
As I studied this story I felt God’s immense love for us. He is so merciful and loving. Jonah was never in any danger despite running from a divine call. God’s regal ocean filled with stunning sea life would be there to guide Jonah back. I pictured Jonah sinking in the sublime of the blue ocean, yet always protected under the omnipotent power of our Father.
