In this artwork I want to show not the images that we see in a kaleidoscope. But I imagine the colored stones in a dark case and on which the light beam falls. These stones move, change and shuffle, when we rotate the case to see the new color image. Voids inevitably form between the stones. These negative spaces surrounded by volumetric forms are also perceived as volumetric ones and affect the image in the kaleidoscope, although they do not have their own color. The elements in the painting create the impression of a tactile surface. The image appears three-dimensional even viewed from an angle. While working on the painting, I almost did not use white paint, because supplies of art materials were interrupted at the lockdown period. I used the linen canvas, acrylics and ink. The painting is covered with glossy varnish. The sides of the painting are also painted over, and you do not need to frame the painting.

I was born in Novouralsk in 1988. I started my art education at a children's art school. It was six years of studying various materials, techniques and art history. I participated in regional competitions, and won prizes. I made my graduation project in linocut under the guidance of Lev Weibert. Howeever, after graduating from school, I did not paint for ten years. I had no ideas at all. Entered the Ural Academy of Architect. I was more interested in constructions and design, and put off drawing and painting exercises as long as I could. During my studies, I became interested in studying the structure of building natural and synthetic materials and sculpture. I have not finished my university. Now I live and work in Ekaterinburg. Six years ago I started painting again. Ideas appear one by one like an endless stream. Sometimes I am afraid that I will not have time to implement them all. Each of my artwork is an experiment. This is a research. Having an preliminary sketch, the artworks change during creation over time. And I get inspiration from floral forms and their variability. I research silhouette and color. I observe how the same silhouette can contain different volumetric shapes; how the same element can be mistaken for a plant and a stone or an animal. I am also fascinated by the textures and surfaces of different materials. I often condense the composition so that the elements create a visual tactile impression. Now I try to combine in my artworks different art materials and skills, techniques and knowledge to express my impressions of observing the world around me in abstract compositions. Each new idea comes as a revelation, but each artwork is the result of manyhours process.
