About The Artwork

«Keptar», cycle «We Are» Life in harmony with nature, the feeling of her breath in every blade of grass and pebble were reflected in all spheres of life and folk traditions of our people. The colorful keptar was no exception - a symbol of fertility, protection and family happiness. The starry sky, the Carpathian sun and the spring riot of colors of the mountain meadows of the Carpathian mountains were embodied in the ornamental patterns of clothing. Our ancestors attached great importance to the protective and ritual functions of clothing. They knew that color plays an important role. Bright festive embroidery denotes light and joy, for example, red symbolizes maturity and protects against love spells, green - the beginning of growth. Archaic motives of embroidery ornaments can tell a lot about the worldview of the people. Having origins in the spiritual sphere, symbolism in the form of embroidery and decorative elements is carried by us to this day into the material sphere. We know that a rhombus is a symbol of mother earth, and a wave (a water snake) is living water, a cross with stars symbolizes the sun and faith. Plant motives tell about the harmonious existence of man in the bosom of nature, and the eternal philosophical motive of the "tree of life" embodies the idea of the continuous movement of life. Cycle «We Are» What were We? What will We be? What Are We? This series is dedicated to defining the identification of the Ukrainian people, understanding what is inherent in us at the genetic level, what we use absolutely unconsciously to preserve our identity, which helps, protects and supports us, which makes us unique. Once disappearing, our distant ancestors left us a powerful energy potential of knowledge, which is now stored in our genetic memory and, as a reminder, in artifacts in the form of sacred symbols. This knowledge is important and relevant for each of us today, because it is based on the relationship between man and nature. They can be used as a tool for improvement, whereby everyone has the opportunity to experience the spiritual world, as well as to know the meaning of their arrival in this world. The personality of each person gets a chance to spiritually transform, which means that space and society will be transformed together with him. Sacred knowledge gives a person the strength to maintain a very fragile balance of good and evil in our modern complex world. They provide spiritual assistance and provide a chance to build a civilization in which spiritual values prevail.
