The function of art is to evoke an emotional or intellectual response in the viewer. My goal as an artist has always been to give the viewer something to react to emotionally.Granted, there are easy ways to create emotion in one's work. Shocking the viewer is the easiest way to create an emotion. But I have always been looking for ways to invite the viewer to find more than just the obvious. I want them to experience something different each time they view my work.
