About The Artwork

A chilean legends says that the Millalobo, the king of the sea, fell in love to a girl named Huenchula. From this union was born a creature that the mother took with her when he returned to his parents' home, but not before warning them that her baby should stay away from all eyes. However, the curious grandparents uncovered her granddaughter. But in doing so, the baby became crystal clear water. Huenchula desperately appealed to her husband, who consoled her and showed her a beautiful teenage girl with long golden hair, incomparable charm and sweetness, half-naked in a suit of algae. It was what had become his daughter, whom they named Pincoya. The work of the Pincoya is to protect the sea, sow and rescue the castaways. All shellfish and fish that Millalobo generously offers anglers in the seas of ChiloƩ, are sown in ocean and beaches for the fertile Pincoya's hands, who comes from deep water to dance on the beaches. it is believe that when the Pincoya dance facing to the see there will be plenty of fish and seafood. And when she does facing to the coast, there will be shortages. To be favored by the Pincoya, you need to be happy; that's why fishermen are accompanied by friends and cheerful girlfriends. But when people fish to much in one place, the Pincoya gets angry and leaves that area, which then becomes infertile.

Painter and goldsmith born in Chile, graduated from Fine Arts. I have always felt attracted by images and the idea that everything can be created from their compilation. From this impression and from the recycling of images, I started painting different scenes, fictional scenarios, colourful and provocative, with the intention to trigger spectators to build a personal and creative process under their own experience in relationship to my work. According to this, my proposal follows an appropriationist line, in which the creation process is conceived from a rich mixture of languages. Once images are decontextualized, a digital procedure is applied in order to assemble them in a pictorial collage. The appropriationism and the extraction of the authorship give life to new and original images, implying an outcome that goes from the reflection of the art to a visual pleasure. This, of course, modifies the sense given by the original authors. The intention behind this is to transmit a new kind of plastic and conceptual experience, obtained from the world of publicity, history of art, and literature. The result obtained from the visual discourse is articulated from a variety of little fragments that come from the intervened mass-media, mostly with a digital nature, delivering as a final outcome the resemantization of the artistic work.
