About The Artwork

Marco Abbamondi was born in Naples on 7 June 1974. He began his artistic career in 1999 with hyper-realist works on canvas and wood that interpret the architecture of Naples, thus favouring his vocation clearly inspired by the city, its history and its cultural traditions. The aesthetic research transformed and evolved over the years in a ‘physical' relationship with the material, the object, and the elements to forge, manipulate, and mould. An insatiable instinct to "touch" and "feel" with his hands: a "tactile" and "sensitive" relationship with the material, which led him in the years to develop a special sensitivity to the transpiring, the eternal passage. The fragility of existence is now the predominant theme of the work, whether paintings or sculpture-installations, which seek to highlight the action that the world has on things. His inspiration derives from the surrounding environment: biomorphic shapes definitely mark his particular style. There appears to be a liaison between the material (wood, concrete, cork) and "natural" forms that inspire. The creativity is expressed through the manipulation: the fusion of material and concept.
