About The Artwork
These paintings are a series from Door County, Wisconsin, a peninsula where the artist spent her summers. They represent the calm and beauty of nature removed from society, a spiritual understanding of the integration of life by observing the simplicity and beauty of light and color. Being an urban artist from Chicago, Vicky Tesmer's reprieve is time spent in quiet nature where she paints and meditates. While in graduate school at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Ms. Tesmer studied in Versailles where her love of plein air painting began. This series brings light and composition once again into the forefront of expression allowing the subject matter and the capturing of light to move the viewer.
