Landscape in Black and Orange Painting

This is an imaginary landscape painted in early 2019 during the production of a large series of pieces based on real-life landscapes of hills, mountains and moorlands. It shows more freedom of composition and mark-making than most of the others, and could even be described as minimalist as there is very little in the way of subject matter other than dark, mysterious foreground with flashes of orange, and a pale, washed-out sky with approaching cloud. Welsh palette-knife painter, Kyffin Williams is a major influence on this piece but one can also see hints of Vincent Van Gogh in the rawness of the image and the roughly mixed vigorous application of thick impasto paint. The painting was produced in a single session with no overworking. This dramatic piece is offered unframed so the buyer can frame it to their own taste.
