Born and based in Sydney Australia, Dirk Kruithof studied a Fine Arts Diploma at Meadowbank and Kogarah Tafe, 1999 - 2001 Majoring in Painting.
His subjects are language and information, images taken from the urban environment, the words signs and symbols, beauty and decay of the city environment.
Dirk utilises photographs, sketches, the net, music, printed media, social media, life in the big bad city, and coffee as creative fuel for his Art. His work is a kind of 'Pop Expressionism' often incorporating elements of text or graffiti like marks.
He has recently branched out into making digital artwork with the 'Procreate' App under alias 'Digital Decay.' These works are available as prints.
He has sold his challenging and thought provoking work worldwide.
Admires and influenced by artist like Christopher Wool, Basquiat, Kippenberger, Cullen, Bacon, Ramellzee, Dubuffet, Ian Fairweather, Lee Krasner and many others.
Dirk has been exhibiting regularly since 2005.
