About The Artwork

The series of paintings The figure stages on knives and fabrics was inspired by the famous work of Artemísia Gentileschi - Judith decapitating Holofernes. A scenario was created from drapes, knives, swords and sharp objects. In the "lay down" painting, the object cuts the canvas almost resting on the fabrics in nude tones.

Odette Boudet is a visual artist from Rio de Janeiro. In 2018 she moved to Porto, Portugal. Master in Plastic Arts from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto (2022) and Graduated in cinema from Federal Fluminense University (1988), she has been dedicated to painting since 2011. The artist-researcher has presented her production in the cultural scene of the north of Portugal and in Brazil. The research in painting begins with the theme of movement, displacement and affective memory, through the metaphor of a suitcase. The theme expands to the relationships between the space of painting and the cinema screen, where she finds arguments to address current issues such as immigration and violence. Thought and gesture are crossed by a camera.
