About The Artwork
Le Muse di Moregine is inspired by the colors of the frescoes of the Roman villa of the Triclini, located near Pompeii. One of the building's dining rooms (triclinia) is decorated with various figures of Muses and deities. The Muses (Μοῦσαι in ancient Greek) were the protectors of song, dance, music, and subsequently of all singing and musical expressions. Erato (Poetry amorosa), Terpsichore (Dance), Clio (History), Talia (Comedy), Euterpe (Music), Calliope (Epic Poetry), Melpomene (Tragedy), Urania (Astronomy) and Polimnia (Sacred Hymns) are the nine Muses that find space on the walls of the dining room of the Roman villa of the Triclini, whose frescoes are still admirable in the Palestra Grande of the Archaeological Park of Pompeii.

I was born in Varallo, an artistic town on the Alps, now I live and work in Milan. I paint abstract works inspired by nature and travel. Travel includes physical space as well as inner reality. The centre of my research includes trips into the unconscious, remote or underwater landscapes and literary works (primarily mythological). I use several layers of acrylic colours and pigments as well as enamel in my art. The art is often characterized by strong, bold colours. Shapes are like glimpses into a mirage or a dream. I try to express an emotion, mood or feeling. My starting point is an idea, memory or suggestion. My wish is that observers of my work use their imagination to go beyond the boundaries of the painting itself.
