Chouette Nia’s artistic journey began with a self-taught exploration of colors and shapes, inspired by nature and the masters of abstraction. « Nature offers us a livingspectacle, a symphony of colors that continuously change with each season. A whole palette of emotions opens up to us. Admiration, wonder, respect, joy… it’s impossible to remain indifferent to it. I draw my inspiration from nature, my memories and my emotions, seeking to create abstract landscapes where the viewer can lose and find themselves. »
Her training at the University of Art and Design was instrumental in her artistic development. There, the artist acquired the technical and theoretical foundations that allow her to explore abstract landscapes with freedom and creativity today. Her specialization in product and interior design influenced her understanding of space, form, and composition. This training taught the artist to see the world in terms of shapes and structures, to explore the relationships between interior and exterior, the built and the natural, and helped her develop a keen sense of detail, perspective, and composition. These skills are reflected in her abstract landscapes through surprising juxtapositions and distorted perspectives.
The core of her artistic approach is to translate emotions and sensations into imaginary landscapes, her goal being to offer the viewer a moment of escape and connection with their own inner landscape. For Chouette Nia, the primary role of art is to express, communicate, and process emotions. “Painting is my way of exploring the relationships between lines and colors. My works evoke imaginary environments that invite exploration and contemplation. Ultimately, it is my means of creating an emotional connection with my viewers.” Her artistic style is found in contemporary art and is characterized by an expressive use of color, an evocation of space, and a particular attention to light. Some of her works are reminiscent of lyrical abstraction with influences from Impressionism or Abstract Expressionism. Her works combine the abstract with an impressionistic quality that lends a soft and delicate sensibility to the scene.
Chouette Nia uses acrylic for its versatility and ability to create rich textures and vibrant effects. It remains her preferred medium, allowing her to capture the ephemeral essence of light and movement, key elements in her creations.
