“Lechah Dodi” - “ Come my Beloved” is a Song to the Shabbat. This beautiful and inspiring song was composed by the 16 century Kabbalist Rabbi Shlomo HaLevi Alkabetz. Every week Israel greets the approaching Shabbat like a groom awaiting his bride as she advances the wedding canopy. Come my Beloved. Come let us go and greet the Shabbat Queen. This painting was created inspired by great fauvist artist, Belarus-born Jewish-Russian-French painter Marc Chagall, who composed his images based on emotional and poetic associations. I also was born in Belarus and my dreamscapes and narratives are deeply rooted in my Russo-Jewish past. My memories are embodied in my birthplace Gomel, revolving around the lives of the humble people of the village.
