ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Poet Portraits series: this depicts the nineteenth french poet, but born in Uruguay, Lucien Ducasse better known as Comte de Lautremont. I had a dream of his face, after i read his only and beautiful work : Le chants de Maldoror in one night long; indeed the portrait shows his features and his thoughts mixed all together as one outstanding dream. the portrait has a classic setting as `mezzo busto` but the colors and actually the oil is used in thick and dense way, creating a three-dimensional representation as the same medium constructs shapes and forms 2018

I was born on Amalfi Coast (Italy), currently living and working in Prague; took courses in painting at Academy of Fine Arts in Naples. Around twenty-three years I left Italy, and follows different routes, including: Barcelona, London, and then I reached New York City, where I displayed and worked for the gallery Monkdogz Urban Art in Chelsea on 27th street. But after a while I replaced it, with long sessions of sketches made in the subway, in the crowded streets of Manhattan and outlying stations and other underprivileged suburbs of NY, which led myself to launch a new and more personal style of painting. My style is a combination of semi-abstract and expressionist large figurative portraits of Poets, Esotericists and 'Maudit' (Artist living a life outside or against the society) that treat philological and uncataloged areas. The images are mostly structures and machines, capable of collecting energy and matter; All those energies or forces disrupted, with a degree of vibrational intensity of which matter consists. However being owned by a strong quest for psychological purity, that allows my images to be often pure acts of violence against the so-called ultra modern commercial world, the Western policy, which often forgets the full meaning of the idea of life and intelligence.
