ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Painting for me is a process of discovery. Painting is also about the process of painting. Starting a work I do not know what colors I will use; what shapes will emerge, what textures will evolve. In short, it is a way to get out our my own preconceived ideas - to get out of my own way. This particular work started with a series of almond shapes that dissected each other and the palate was predominantly black and white. I had even put the work away for awhile only to start again - using the elements that I had already but almost completely transforming the entire piece.
