About The Artwork

ATLAS (A Toroidal LHC ApparatuS) is one of six detectors installed in the LHC particle accelerator. It became operational in 2008. Its unprecedented design allows detection of the widest so far spectrum of particle collisions products. ALICE, an acronym of A Large Ion Collider Experiment, is another detector used to observe collisions of lead atoms nuclei. Julia presents two huge machines as two particle beams – a female one and a male one, flying through the cosmic space, colliding and becoming one. The artist perceives technological processes in a humanistic and a philosophical way. She finds the human principle in technology.
