This painting was given back to the artist after the death of her brother who kept it in Ohio. After 50 plus years, the author did not remember painting this one. My philosophy of art and life As an artist and as a woman, my first obligation is to God, for He alone is responsible for the gifts in my hand. They're the talents He has given me, I must, somehow, transfer His message of love and salvation to as many people as my work can possibly reach. As an artist and as a wife, my second commitment is to my husband. Through the gifts of art, God has given me, I must endeavor to make his life meaningful, colorful, and worthwhile by painting a little of myself and all of my love into everything that I do for him. As an artist and as a mother, my third responsibility is to those children I may have. Through my expression of art, I can better serve as an interpreter of life and a transmitter of love. As an artist, my final obligation is to present to the public, and interpretation of life's processes. My own personal method of doing so is through an art technique I call abstract symbolism, with special concentration on abstract spiritualistic symbolism, (the interpretation of scriptural and moral concepts, embracing Christianity). though I love and respect realism, I consider it's God's contribution to life, as an artistic force. Working with abstract symbols, not only gives me the feeling that I am contributing to the visual aspect of art but also that I am conveying messages that concerns us all. For me, art without meaning is vanity.
