ABOUT THE ARTWORK

What I see, I settle on the surface with the delicacy and lightness of intensive, though watercolor colors, trying not to take away the movement. On canvasses and on walls, I create maps that appear as if in a state of weightless color signs and metaphorical forms. They populate the space, running away from images, escaping, falling and mourning in the air and on the ground. They do not like enclosed frames and closed minds. The form, which fills up my thoughts and which I seek, must be a simulation of inner experience, it's synesthetic shape, which defines my idea, shaping it into a work of art. The process of creation itself and its non-obviousness is an inseparable part of my work. Decision making may take days, hours or sometimes just a few seconds, depending on the end result of the gesture, momentary outburst. However, once the decision is made, it is forever, it cannot be repainted, washed, corrected. This is what characterizes my water technique.

I was born in Cracow, Poland, in 1991. I graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow in 2017. I divide my life between painting and family life, because I am a mother of two little boys. Being pregnant started a new stage in my art. I painted intuitively, often abstractly, with pure colors, most often with watercolors on large canvases, inspired by the body of a woman and Kandinski's texts. I started to work horizontally, putting the canvas on the floor.I wanted to transfer the same effect to my paintings as I had on the drawings and sketches that I had painted on a wet surface. So I started covering the entire canvas with water before applying the first brush strokes and stains. I wanted a blur effect. I gave my painting a characteristic form, until today using mainly the water technique, affirming the woman's body and life, transforming them in my own way. I love to show their delicacy, and at the same time extraordinary strength and courage, movement, line, beauty and emotions. Currently, I am in love with raw canvases, not primed. Color, structure or even their smell is something beautiful to me. In the future, I am thinking of abandoning figurative painting in order to get absorbed by abstraction. My inspirations are old photographs of female nudes. I am looking for something special in them that will catch my attention. It can be an emotion or a dynamic pose, movement, gesture. And then I create a picture very intuitively, always listening to music, often singing or dancing. It is an amazing process for me, taking me away from reality. Feeling often in a trance, I compose a picture like a puzzle. The first gestures are usually very expressive, and the next and last ones are more and more deliberate. As for other artists that I admire, it will certainly be Franz Kline, Teresa Pągowska, and Helen Frankenthaler and Wasilly Kandinsky. Beautiful means something moves You, and You know it and You feel it. It’s the truth, insight, pleasure.
