About The Artwork

An original landscape painting on canvas. This is a Gallery Sided canvas which has deep sides painted white. The canvas is supplied ready to hang unframed for a contemporary look. The painting is supplied with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the artist. I only use premium quality materials and paints. About the painting This is our meadow which lies at the back of the house and adjacent to my studio. It always inspires because of the changing colours through the farming seasons. At the moment, the cowslips are about finished and the yellow swathes of the buttercups mingle with the pale greens whites of the cow parsley. In the midst of all this flowery froth emerge the structured branches of the lilac, heavily laden with blossom and exuding their heavy bee attracting scent. It is a beautiful meadow.

www.chrissiehavers.com Represented by Cambridge Contemporary Art. The landscape is my main source of subject for painting - particularly the orderly impact on the landscape of human habitation and farming. The framework imposed by fencing hedges ditches etc and the impact these divisions have on the land is always interesting. Colours lent to the land for a few months by growing crops is another element. The rather harsh lemon of the rape or mustard crops, the cool blue of a linseed field, the effervescent mixture of echinacea flowers - all these colours provide problems for an artist. While they are very dramatic , visually they don’t sit well with the native trees and hedge colours, but I am drawn to them as a subject on exactly that account. This is what inspires my work - colour.
