Pale pink roses in a mirror mosaic vase. My garden is mass planted with rows of the beautiful rose - Deloitte and Touche. I have tried to convey their variance in colour. The rose buds are almost orange changing to a mix of orange and pink and then finally fade to a very pale pink. This canvas has a very rough tooth that gives the impression of linen when dragged with a dry brush. The lace has been collaged with an offcut from my sewing basket that I have also dry brushed and then glazed to form the shadows.

This artwork has been beautifully double framed in off white with stressed edging.

I have tried many different art forms over the years including pottery, stained-glass, photography and many others. Since retiring from a career as a school librarian some years ago I have been privileged to enjoy experimenting with acrylics and various materials and textures and am always game to try something new or different. My experimenting techniques have lead to some interesting effects but have included the odd disaster that has literally gone up in flames. I have a great love for all of Gods creation but particularly for Africa, its people and wildlife and have tried to interpret this in my personal expression of artwork. I was born in East London South Africa in 1953 and moved to Durban some 25 years ago. I am a proud wife, mother of 2 & grandmother with 4 delightful grandchildren
