About The Artwork

City43 is an original hand painted collection of 43 cities of the world. Some are obviously famous and large. Others are less known. Each painting is an abstraction and interpretation. The style is consistent in general mark making and compositional spatial aesthetic. Some are already finished, some in the process and others have not received their first stroke. This is a sensibility exercise associated with sense perception as the means through which knowledge is gathered. Every painting will have their title with the corresponding number 1-43. Materials and mediums used are oil paint on gessoed masonite with inclusive flush wood frame and oil on stretched framed primed canvas. The sizes will range from small to large. City43 is targeted for the discerning art collector. This painting is Number 3. The great city of London.

Physical mark making on 2 dimensional surfaces has been a life long pursuit. After many years of performing in the Graphic Design arena, my focus is now on the freedom and application of my first love. I am constantly experimenting in my practice to reflect my artistic mood. Our contribution as artists weaves into the rich tapestry of human existence. Every single artist makes a valuable statement towards the understanding of our selves. I started painting oriental water colours when about 4 years of age. At that point, I probably knew that my life would revolve around art. Studied at ATI achieving a 3 year Diploma in Graphic Design between 77-79. Student of Ray Dowling and Ken Robinson. 82 freelanced commercially. Lived in Europe from 84-86. Had a studio in Stockholm and 2 solo exhibitions at Gälleriet Bergsrådsvägen. Designer and illustrator for 17 years. Moved to Tamborine Mountain 02. Work is represented in collections over Europe and Australasia. Awards: HC at St Bernards Art Prize. RJ Ambler Portrait prize QLD RNA 06. 2nd Landscape in D’arcy Doyle Art Awards: 06 +10. Finalist Stanthorpe 08.
