About The Artwork

Lonely procession shows an abstrakt expressionistic artexpression, in the borderline area between abstract and figurative. The palette is light, grayish, white with yellow moments. A human being looks to be wandering alone in the landscape of the image, the title confers to that sometimes one have to fight battles alone, and even if this may be heavy, it can be important to stand up for what one believes in for oneself or others. The artwork comes in an example passepartout. Title: Lonely procession, 2013 Production place: Oslo, Norway Technique: Mixed media on etched paper (oil pastel) Format: 29,9 x 27,4 cm (passepartout) 9,9 x 14,4 cm (image)

In a multidimensional world, art brings visibility to different viewpoints. As an artist with a minority background, I will present artistic expressions from the viewpoint of the Kveni people in the north of Norway. The Kvens as a people belongs to the cap of north, the kvens was originally situated in the north of Finland and Sweden, in Tornedalen and Bottenviken, and goes far back in our history, Many kvens lived in the north of Norway, and became a minority, with a different language and culture. The Kveni people experienced Norwegianizing in modern time, suppression from the government. Very few were to inherit their culture in modern time because of the suppression. I will try to understand what it means for a human being to loose identity and culture this way. I will also try to understand more deeply the historical roots of the Kveni people, like my grandmother, the last person in my line, to speak the Kveni language. Thematically, works are found within a conceptual tradition, or as representations of the stories of the Kveni people and their historical landscapes. This page will change as I start to bring forward new works, in line with the artistic statement.
