Layers of glazes and gold underlie the final coats of pale blue oil.A strip back process has been used to reveal glimpses of what was before and I love the way this represents us as human beings.We are built through sheaths and sheaths of experience and thoughts and we can choose which to expose or which to keep hidden.I've chosen to reveal a flash of the gold which covers the whole base and this represents the purest part of ourselves, which is why it is the whole base, even though you can't see it in its entirety: I fundamentally believe in the goodness of human beings.

My art is primarily organic abstraction, often portraying surreal and softened landscapes. A dream or nebulous quality marks both transitions and compositions. This is derived from a mode of life, which is rooted in inner stillness. I live in South West France, surrounded by tranquil forests. That quietness of being is what I strive for in my studio. I paint without distraction, so that I can fully connect with what I am creating. The more I can remove myself from the process, the better the work. I only paint in oils as they give such wonderful luminosity and I prefer large scale pieces for freedom of mind.
