Magnolia sings during Corona lockdown Painting

In my paintings I work cyclically and nearly always outside when the weather permits it. I have to wait for spring and every year one of my first canvases of the year is when I faithfully sit in front of a Magnolia tree near my house which each year I paint in a different manner. She flowers in spring after many months of darkness in Amsterdam symbolising for me the beginning of the light, hope, love. This spring we were unpleasantly surprised by the Corona virus and all the complications that came with it. So when all Amsterdammers would normally start venturing into the springs first rays of sun we were forced very unnaturally to commence a Social distancing, state of shock and quarantining in Amsterdam precisely at the same time she started flourishing. While I walked by to catch a glimpse and admire her beauty she sounded louder than ever, together with the birds, for all the other city sounds had disappeared. I painted her by heart and from my lockdown home perspective.
