This original painting is part of an ongoing theme that explores the representation of man and woman through symbolic colour and shape. This work represents 'Woman' being represented by a square and ‘Man’ being represented by a line. These universal shapes have been given meaning by the artist and are placed in an abstract landscape of equally balanced sky and earth. The use of colour is used to evoke certain feelings and atmospheres. Inspiration for this particular work comes from a life long fascination with minimalism, symbolism and colour theory. It is painted on paper because the fragility of this material represents the condition of human non-permanence. This is an original, hand painted acrylic painting where attention to colour harmony is paramount and the hard-edge lines immaculately executed. Finally, the surface of the painting is slightly revealing of brush stroke textures but also appears flat depending on the lighting conditions. Art work: Original painting Medium: Acrylic paint on heavy weight paper Art movement influences: Minimalism and Colour-field Characteristics: Hard-edge, flat colour with with very subtle surface textures. Painting size: 71 x 52 x 0.1 cm Frame size external edge: 77 x 58 x 1.3 cm Frame: Wooden frame / black finish / super clear acrylic glazing. Note on glazing: The super clear acrylic glazing provided in the frame is a good alternative to glass. It can also be easily removed if the collector desires to use real framing glass. The painting also looks excellent with-out any glazing at all, it is just a matter of the collectors preference. Glass is not provided initially, due to the possibility of breakage during the shipping process. Hanging hardware: Supplied but not attached to frame in case different hanging methods are required by collector. Packaging: Gallery standard wrapped and protected with acid free sheeting and robust packaging materials

My interest in art started at an early age. I remember seeing books at home where I grew up in the 1970's. The books were about impressionism, surrealism and my favourite showed art from the DADA movement. In my teens I became obsessed with Andy Warhol and it was at this point that I realised making art was what I wanted to do. The Paintings you see on my Saatchi Art platform are in chronological order. The first paintings were made in 2018. They were created very precisely and accurately and are influenced by minimalist ideas. Through 2019 my work moved away from minimalist abstractions and started to veer more towards an expressionist style. Through 2020 and going into 2021, I am exploring ideas that attempt to strike a balance between a minimalist mindset and the spontaneity of an expressionist. The paintings are created using acrylic on heavyweight paper and sometimes I use charcoal, graphite and oil pastel. In the next few month I will be starting to execute my larger paintings on canvas.
