Art work synopsis: The painting, 'Man and woman in a landscape with their shadows, number 2', is an individual piece to be acquired separately from the ‘Man and woman, series 2.’ When a new series is created, two versions, (and only ever two), are painted so that a collector has the option to invest in the complete series or if they prefer, just a single painting. This individual painting is different to it’s twin in the series because it is larger and is characterised by unique brush stroke textures. By this definition, all these painting are original. Theme and symbolic meaning: All the painting that deal with the 'Man and Woman' theme, look into the expression of 'man and woman' through symbolic colour and shape. 'Woman' is represented by a square and ‘Man’ is represented by a line. These universal shapes have been given meaning by the artist and are placed in an abstract landscape of equally balanced sky and earth. The seductive colours are chosen to evoke certain atmospheres. Inspiration for the work comes from a life long fascination with colour theory, minimalism and symbolic language. Technical: The texture of the painting is slightly revealing of subtle brush strokes but the surface also appears flat depending on the lighting conditions. Hard-edge lines, which are integral to the art works character, have been immaculately executed using acrylic on paper. One of the reasons paper has been chosen to execute the painting, is because the fragility of paper can be seen to represent the condition of human non-permanence. Specification: Art work: Original painting Medium: Acrylic paint on heavy weight paper Art movement influences: Minimalism and Colour-field Characteristics: Hard-edge, flat colour with with very subtle surface textures. Painting size: 71 x 52 x 0.1 cm Frame size external edge: 77 x 58 x 1.3 cm Frame: Exhibition quality, custom built wooden frame / black finish / super clear perspex glazing. Note on glazing: The super clear perspex is provided separately in the packaging and is a good alternative to glass. If you would like to add the perspex or maybe even framing glass at any point, the artwork can be removed with ease from the frame, as it is not fixed with any adhesives. Saying this, the paintings look good with or without glazing, it is just a matter of collector preference. Glass is not provided, due to the possibility of breakage during the shipping process. Hanging hardware: Supplied but not attached to frame in case different hanging methods are required by collector. Packaging: Gallery standard wrapped and protected with acid free sheeting and robust packaging materials

My interest in art started at an early age. I remember seeing books at home where I grew up in the 1970's. The books were about impressionism, surrealism and my favourite showed art from the DADA movement. In my teens I became obsessed with Andy Warhol and it was at this point that I realised making art was what I wanted to do. The Paintings you see on my Saatchi Art platform are in chronological order. The first paintings were made in 2018. They were created very precisely and accurately and are influenced by minimalist ideas. Through 2019 my work moved away from minimalist abstractions and started to veer more towards an expressionist style. Through 2020 and going into 2021, I am exploring ideas that attempt to strike a balance between a minimalist mindset and the spontaneity of an expressionist. The paintings are created using acrylic on heavyweight paper and sometimes I use charcoal, graphite and oil pastel. In the next few month I will be starting to execute my larger paintings on canvas.
