'Man and woman in a landscape' is a painting where the square represents a woman and the line represents the man. The colours used are to evoke certain feelings or mood. The lilac sky could be referring to spirituality, the blue square coldness and the green line nature. The black ground maybe a deep hole or abyss. Viewers may sense from this painting feelings of detachment and never really knowing the other. The medium of paper is chosen for it's fragility, representing human non-permanence or being easily broken.The style is minimal and abstract in order to reduce the work to its purity of meaning. I paint two versions of these paintings as version 1 is part of the ‘Woman and Man’ series. This is version 2 of 'Man and woman in a landscape with their shadows'. Each painting is an original and slightly different to other versions so that a collectors purchase is always unique.
