These paintings are based on the concept of Man and Woman. The square represents a woman and the line represents the man. The colours used are to evoke certain feelings or mood. Blues could be seen as representing the sky, the sea or being cold, oranges are possibly concerned with warmth, vibrancy and energy, blacks maybe symbolic of an abyss or a the night sky, lilac could signify spirituality and red might be blood or a wound. The medium of paper is chosen for it's fragility, representing human non-permanence or being easily broken. Art work: Original acrylic painting Medium: Heavy weight paper Individual painting dimensions: 60 x 46 x 0.1 cm Frame size outside edge to edge 65 x 52 cm Frame: Black finish / no glass Gallery wrapped and protected with acid free packaging materials.

My interest in art started at an early age. I remember seeing books at home where I grew up in the 1970's. The books were about impressionism, surrealism and my favourite showed art from the DADA movement. In my teens I became obsessed with Andy Warhol and it was at this point that I realised making art was what I wanted to do. The Paintings you see on my Saatchi Art platform are in chronological order. The first paintings were made in 2018. They were created very precisely and accurately and are influenced by minimalist ideas. Through 2019 my work moved away from minimalist abstractions and started to veer more towards an expressionist style. Through 2020 and going into 2021, I am exploring ideas that attempt to strike a balance between a minimalist mindset and the spontaneity of an expressionist. The paintings are created using acrylic on heavyweight paper and sometimes I use charcoal, graphite and oil pastel. In the next few month I will be starting to execute my larger paintings on canvas.
