Title - Man up Size - 36 x 36 inches We’re taught a definition of masculinity via the language we hear around us, boys are taught that expressing sorrow/crying is not a trait of real men. Men in the society are expected to become “protectors” of and “providers” for their families. Crying like a girl, Boys don’t cry. Man up, be a man be strong. Strong, strong, strong. " New masculinity " A lot has changed in the last few centuries. Now Love for flowers or pink color has no gender. Man feels OK crying, admitting their struggles, and asking for help. Man has evolved from a food gatherer, hunter, warrior, figure of physical strength and security, the sole breadwinner to a more balanced role of doing a good mix of all the earlier roles and balancing it with a lot of household chores. These include taking care of the kids, doing the dishes, doing laundry, cooking meals, and various other things Men today are much more sensible, sensitive and respectful of women.

Artist Statement: Poonam Choudhary As a contemporary artist, my work embodies a deep exploration of Abstract Expressionism and mixed media acrylic painting. My artistic journey is driven by a desire to capture the complexities of human emotion and the interplay between perception and reality. Each piece serves as a visual dialogue, inviting viewers to engage with the narratives woven through color, texture, and form. Working primarily with high-quality acrylics on raw canvas, I seek to evoke a sense of dynamism and depth. My process is inherently intuitive; I allow the materials to guide me, resulting in layers that reflect the transient nature of existence. Each brushstroke is deliberate yet free, creating a tension that resonates with the viewer on both emotional and intellectual levels. My practice extends beyond the canvas, as I actively engage with the art community through exhibitions and collaborations. Since establishing Poovi Art in 2013, I have showcased my work in various prestigious international art fairs and publications, furthering my mission to connect art lovers with the transformative power of contemporary abstract art. I am deeply inspired by the potential of art to transcend cultural barriers and foster a sense of shared experience. Through my work, I aim to inspire others to see the beauty in impermanence and to embrace the emotional depth that art can provide. Thank you for being part of this journey.
