ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This painting is part of "The Paintings Section" of the Davis Museum Barcelona, a miniature contemporary art collection I founded in 2009 (www.davismuseum.com). The section is divided into two categories: "Portraits," focused on artists like Marcel Duchamp, Robert Filliou, and Marcel Broodthaers, and "Still Lifes," which represent their respective works: "Boîte-en-valise," "Galerie Légitime," and "Musée d'Art Moderne, Département des Aigles." Conceptually, a 1969 photograph of Broodthaers wearing a fake nose, taken in front of a truck from the art transport company "La Continentale Menkès" during the filming of his experimental movie "Voyage à Waterloo" in Brussels, Belgium, inspired the piece. Formally, I drew inspiration from the drama and chiaroscuro of Baroque painting, with simple backgrounds that convey power, dignity, and psychological depth in the portrait. Paintings in Private Collections: Alejandro Vásquez Herrero, Viladecans, Spain Ashish Mistry, Atlanta, USA Carles Vidal Garganta, Barcelona, Spain Daniel Marcoux, Montreal, Canada Denise Siqueira, São Paulo, Brazil Francesc Torres, Barcelona, Spain Geert De Kegel, Zele, Belgium James Dacre, London, England James Norton, Blue Ridge, Georgia, USA Joe Smith, New York, USA Johnny Temple, Uxbridge, Canada Peter Verstraeten, Sint-Martens-Latem, Belgium Philip Henderson, Atlanta, USA Soteris Argyrou, Nicosia, Cyprus Taylor Smith, Indianapolis, USA Yellowstone Club, Big Sky, Montana, USA
