This painting is inspired by a secluded corner of coastline where dense Mediterranean vegetation meets a wide stretch of fine sand, a place closely connected to my summer memories. Rather than simply describing the landscape, I wanted to capture the vivid relationship between land, light, and color ...

Gianluigi Casiraghi

About the Artist

Gianluigi Casiraghi

Italy

Casiraghi's art evokes the quiet poetry of Northern Italy, where light and memory become landscape.

Gianluigi Casiraghi (b. 1953, Gallarate, Italy) began his artistic journey in the early 1970s as a self-taught artist, initially influenced by Italian modernist painters such as Carlo Carrà and Mario Sironi. His early works were created in oil on canvas and enamels on glass.

After a long interruption due to academic studies and professional commitments in Milan, he resumed painting in 2012, developing a contemporary figurative language that at times approaches the informal, with a predominant use of acrylics.

Marked early in life by profound personal losses—the death of his father at the age of fifteen, followed by that of his sister and brother—Casiraghi’s work reflects a quiet sensitivity to light, absence, and emotional depth. These elements are not explicitly narrated, but subtly embedded in his visual language.

His work has been exhibited in both solo and group exhibitions across Northern Italy, including established cultural venues such as Legnano and Somma Lombardo.
