I got inspired from where I grow up, Morocco. Traditional houses, Riyads, have big walls and/or floors are made with different Andalusi patterns and colors of zellige, tiles. It reminds me also of this architecture of the interior garden that is symmetrically divided with a fountain in the center along with its central axes made of this zellige.

I am originally from Casablanca, Morocco. I fell in love with clothing fabrics while I was watching my mother sew them by hand in a lovely and passionate way. When I was ten years old, I embroidered my first piece of art, a 17”/12” head, and neck of a horse. It took me the whole summer to finish it. From the beginning, I knew that I wanted to be a fashion designer. My main inspiration comes from the traditional Moroccan Caftan and the Hindu mixing of bright colors. I was also inspired by the house I grew up in, which had traditional Moroccan architecture. The Moroccan architecture has high walls, an ogee, a huge dome that allows light to come in, high windows, and rooms that are open out into the courtyard. Some of the houses have in the courtyard trees and fountain in the center and Andalusian geometric pattern Zellige, tiles, in the walls and floor. My interest focus was the creation of a mix of traditional and modern clothing trends, which had great success. I attached great importance to the combination of different kinds of fabrics, colors, embroidery, beadwork, and lacework. Everything was done by hand. Moving to the United States in 2009 has changed my whole life. I dedicated my time to raising my kids and going back to school. Here I am, back again to art. In 2020, my new creative process of painting was initiated when my husband Omar started his installation collection, Saatchi Art/Mosaique. I was watching him conceive his pieces of art and something in me woke up. Currently, my principal focus is the traditional Andalusian geometric patterns and shapes. My love and passion for drawing geometric patterns and mixing colors are a source of peace and joy in my life, which I hope to convey to others.
