About The Artwork

MARUBIO This piece is part of my "Transparencies Series". The paintings and objects and sculptures created are exclusively made with the marvelous colors of Murano glass. In the Venetian lagoon, when the weather turns bad and the sea swells, it is said that the "marubio" comes. It is a representation of that moment, the water getting angry, swelling, creating waves, and pure white foam. Materials Murano glass. Technique Glass fusion and lampworking. Crystal glass sheet fused with powders, filigree, and very fine colored threads. I cut the crystal glass to the size and thickness I need and then create the filigree with lampworking. I mix very fine colored glass powders to create the sea and the sky and the various shades, adding the threads and filigree already prepared, and everything is put into the oven for fusion. Then I perform the grinding work to eliminate small imperfections due to fusion. The painting is ready, and I put it in the oven where it reaches a fusion temperature of 1450 degrees Fahrenheit and slowly cools down for a cycle of about 20 hours. After these two phases, there is the very delicate third phase, the bending in the oven on refractory molds. The finished work is then coupled with a wooden panel and finally framed. Signed by engraving on the front and attached with a certificate of authenticity.

I was born in the beautiful city of Venice and from a young age, I followed my father's great passion for Murano glass, falling in love with this precious material linked to the traditions of my land. After my studies, I began collaborating with some of the most representative glass design companies in Murano, historic brands such as VeArt and Vistosi. My interest turned to the technical aspects of glass processing and decoration, research, design, and the study of this material, starting to design and create furnishing and lighting objects for national and international companies. In 2002, I received the prestigious task from the European Community and the Ministry of Equal Opportunities to coordinate courses in Venice aimed at promoting female employment and the development of glass craftsmanship workshops for this purpose. In 2003, I finally started my artistic glass fusion and lampworking laboratory, developing various techniques related to their processing. I have always loved glass for its brilliance, for the beauty of its endless colors and reflections, and I wanted to combine my knowledge of glass techniques with another passion of mine, painting. The precious silver leaf coupled with the glass sheet becomes my canvas to draw and paint on. Graffito, an ancient technique that I revisited in a modern key, combined with other artistic glass processing techniques, allows me to leave free space for my inspiration and creativity for the paintings, objects, and sculptures that represent my collections. Research involves and excites me, stimulating me to find new forms of artistic expression in original and unique works. I am one of the founding members of AMA - Association of Master Artisans of Glass, a brand for the safeguarding of the artistic and cultural heritage of Venetian glass and Made in Italy. My works have participated in various international events and exhibitions and are present in showrooms in many Italian and foreign cities.
