About The Artwork

This Marylin Monroe portrait was the first one of the series. My idea was to portray Marylin in her daily life. Sad, happy, drunk, depressed, sleepy moments. I tried to stay away from her iconic pictures. Last September I was invited to be part of a private exhibition for the 2021 Miami Art Basel. During a lunch chat with an art collector in Miami, at the Cuban neighborhood, he said: I'll put together an exhibition for the Art Basel. That night I was home thinking who should I paint. I have a 50's poster of a movie in my kitchen that has a picture of a beautiful actress, and that was when it came to mind, I'll paint Marylin Monroe. I painted 8 portraits in less than 3 months for the Art Basel, hard work!
