Me looking at you, a mirror! Painting

This portrait was part of my dissertation in Fine Arts School, which examined the construction of images including forms that would appear in a map. I was seeing the whole figurative form as an ocean where different forms would appear as terratories of color. This photographic approach of painting was referred to memories, dreams, nightmares and sub-conscious feelings. This series of paintings create a strong feeling of something nearly approached but not yet touched or felt. Bright colors bring dreams into reality however elements like the 3/4 pose or the part of the model's brain that resembles a map create a strong feeling of something nearly approached but not yet touched or being completely understood. This series of paintings is better positioned in the middle of the continuum between reality and imagination.
