About The Artwork

The Google Earth Landscapes project is an attempt by means of traditional fine arts using traditional media (oil on canvas) reflect the change in the perception of the planet Earth by people and especially by artists. (...) GOOGLE EARTH (...) It is even more that global search machine or the biggest geo data source, but also a global machine of visualization of our world on a planetary scale. For artists Google Earth is an instrument that opens an access to the boundless pictures of our planet. This visualisation is machine-made therefore unbiased and objective which is make GE an ideal ground for artist’s comprehension, reflection, and processing. The globality and universality of the GE make artists more connected with each other like never before. We all have key to the same data but our way of processing it is unique and that is why GE has a great potential to contribute to the development of contemporary art.

Alexander Lufer (b.1965, USSR) is a Germany based artist. "My artistic pursuits over the thirty years since 1996 have been varied and probably uneven, but have gradually narrowed down to several series that explore contemporary interpretations of traditional genres such as vanitas, still life and landscape. In recent years, I have been most interested in the revolutionary changes in the return of form to the plastic arts that have been brought about by the latest digital technologies and the development of artificial intelligence". He studied architecture at St. Petersburg University of Architecture and Civil Engineering, and even before graduating, he defined his profession as a free artist. He took part in various group and individual exhibitions, including ERARTA Museum of Modern Art in St. Petersburg, Central House of Artists in Moscow,Nice and Lyon in France, Madrid in Spain, Luxembourg, Berlin and Hamburg in Germany, etc.
