Michael Painting

It took me half a lifetime to start seeing how any new human being already comes, and will incessantly continue to be, shaped by their ancestry. I cannot escape, much less undo this influence. But I think it is my responsibility to try and understand as much of it as possible. Only then I can teach my children and guide them so that they may grow to become strong, loving personalities. This painting reflects this process by being multi-layered. The background is made up of small paintings of a variety of ancient family album photographs, placed and layered according to the type and strength of influence I felt each individual ancestor had on my newborn son. The painting comes mounted in an off-white mount.
