Titled "Midnight Moonlight". This is part of a series of abstract color-field paintings done in the early 2000's. Inspiration was drawn from the abstract expressionists of the mid 1900's. Also inspired by looking outside at night and seeing the full moon light up the snow at the edge of the woods. There is a sister painting of the same size titled 'Moonlit Family' on my page if it hasn't yet sold. This is professional grade acrylic paint on canvas. The painting itself measures 78" high by 60" wide on a 1.5" thick stretched canvas. Including the floating frame, it measures just over 80" high by 62" wide by 2" deep. It's wired and ready to hang. Please look at the images carefully. This is painted very loosely with quick brushstrokes and intentional "irregularities" and drips inherent with painting. From an angle, light picks up different textures and sheen due to varying thickness of paint over the canvas. The frame shows a little wear - scuff marks, and the corners have pulled apart a tiny bit - but doesn't interfere with the overall painting and intended effect of the frame. About the artist: Stephen Remick was born and raised in Vermont. He earned a BFA in Painting from Swain School of Design, a small art school in Massachusetts. He resides in a coastal, New England town with his artist wife, Anne Carrozza Remick. Steve's paintings are in private collections all over the U.S. and abroad.

I'm painting my back yard and the world beyond. Familiar, everyday sights that may only get a peripheral, passing glimpse. In-the-moment scenes… a yard sale, a backyard tree house, or a new house foundation under construction and filled with potential. Signs of prior lives… a centuries old, crumbling foundation who's long gone owner held that same potential as today’s builder, a cemetery reclaimed by the woods. Trying to guide the viewer to think in a deeper way, to realize our connection to each other, our environment, our past, and our future. Also re-connecting with an abstract, color-field series from the early 2000's, with inspiration drawn from land and sky and the abstract expressionist movement. In between all that, plein air painting when I can. Nothing beats painting from life. Born and raised in Vermont, living in Massachusetts.
