BAY is an Adelaide based artist, whose work explores her Tongan heritage which was unknown to her until she began to research her family tree, discovering a family she never knew existed. Mental health also has a strong influence on her easily recognisable abstract style, focusing on identity and the ever present question - ‘where do I belong?’ She is proud to support Headspace, Australia's Youth Mental Health Foundation, by donating a percentage of each sale. BAY has collaborated with Madame Flavour Tea for the packaging of their Melbourne Morning Blend, sold nationally. Last year she was awarded an artist residency at Glenside Health Services, where she created a new body of work exhibited for SALA and successfully facilitated art therapy classes for their rural and remote consumers. With each new collection, she works to resolve her identity as a Polynesian woman, and better understand the complexities of mental illness in today’s society.
