ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Inspired by the Richter's artworks, this painting is named as one of this Orphan Drug: Mnesis, which is specified for LHON (Leber hereditary optic neuropathy). Affecting the way they can see the world and how modifies their bodies, this painting is an Ode to the person who have to pass through those symptoms. Rare Diseases and the orphan drugs are concepts really uncommon but not for that reason are less important. There are lots of rare diseases, almost 7,000, in America are around 25-30 millions living with this kind of disease. The suffering is terrible but the worst about this issue is what is happening with the labs that find the medicine to save a life but costs too much to be at the market. At the end, those drugs are left, abandoned, like the people who needs that medicines to get a better life.
