About The Artwork

Colors: Navy, Lt. Blue, Tan, Buttermilk, Cream, Lime Green, Olive, Neon Green Hello, Thank you for visiting, and I hope that all is well with you and your families. I recently read that all art is considered not original, or is stolen from other artists. Any preconceived notion of an idea of a painting is thought to be from another artist whether we know it or not. However, I beg to differ a bit. When I started painting over 12 years ago during the the last recession in 2009. I always knew that I liked to draw, as a kid and I remember carrying a note pad and trying to draw pictures of streets, where the street gets smaller as it goes into the distance. I looked it up and I suppose it is considered to be drawing in a 1-point perspective. I have always known how to put colors together, and always had the creative gene. Even though black is not technically a color, it is my favorite color, and you would know for sure if you could see the "Sea of Black" in my closet. Anyway, I love painting, and I said all that to make this point. I do not think that my art is taken from anyone else. In fact, when I started painting, I just thought about life or not and just really used the way I was feeling to guide my strokes. I even refused to look at other artists' work for the longest time because I was concerned it might influence me, and I did not want that, but then I read that artists cannot sell paintings if they do not mingle with other artists or get to know other artists. So, I opened an account on Instagram (patrinia_art), and I am building a bit of a following. Well, it is to me. I knew that I had my own style, and it has developed over the years. I can also see my progression, and it is amazing to me. I can see where I gathered the courage to delve deeply into the painting and not be concerned if it will be liked. There were many times when I was working on a piece, and I wanted to stop, but because I may not have had more canvas, and I love to paint, so I would keep forging on with the piece for lack of canvas. This really helped me in a way, because not having endless access to canvas also helped me to build my style of painting without me really noticing it at first. I do not believe in the concept of "self-taught" even though I use it. I just picked it up over the years from articles I read on painting, or the art world. My belief is that artistic ability can be a natural thing without it being taught. Yes, people do go to school to learn to be an artist, but I also believe that it is also a natural belief for some or many. I read just yesterday about artists that are referred to as "outsider artists" that was a scary term when I heard it, but after some quick research and screenshots, my uneasiness subsided. Being artist and not being trained at an art school, or being a part of mainstream is not so bad. Especially when you know that you have above average talent. I think being an "outsider artist" doesn't make me naive, it makes me unique. I feel confident about this, and I know I will be a well known "living artist" before too long. From day one I have always told myself to just keep painting, because one day you will not believe the number of people who will request your work, and you have to be ready. I also learned about "singular" art yesterday. This was another term I was not familiar with. (you really can learn something new everyday) Well, I look at my work and say, "that's Singular" or extraordinary, no other artist has created this before me. This is how I look at my art. After I have finished creating a piece, I look at it long and hard, for days, or weeks, or months even until I can come up with a name. Sometimes, a piece will remind me of something, and then I take my research in that direction until I can figure out a name for the piece. This piece sort of reminded me of a garden, and I like the colors and how the piece flows, and the happiness and peacefulness it brings to me, so I researched gardens in Monaco, and immediately found a popular garden there called Exotic Garden of Monaco, and this is where I retrieved the name for this piece. Why Monaco, well I like Monaco for some reason. Not completely sure why (I've never been there) but maybe it could have something to do with the beauty of Monaca, and the calmness, and the beautiful way the water shimmers in the pictures I see online, and the carefree life of the people there (I've read), who seem to not have a care or any troubles in their lives, which is how I plan to be one day soon. Please pardon my long-windedness. I just wanted to be a little more personable, so that visitors could feel a little more connected to me and the piece I created. :) Thank you for visiting and enjoy your purchase. If you are just browsing, please keep in touch, as I am always adding to my page here at Saatchi Art. I appreciate your encouragement. I hope that my art brings joy, peace, comfort, love, calm, romance, strength, and inspiration to your life. You know what else? I hope my art brings you company and conversation.:) Certificate of Authenticity (included) Canvas is signed on back, usually (date, title, dimensions) Hardware is not attached, and can be purchased and attached to the wood for hanging. You can also opt to have the painting framed. Good day to you and your family, and continue to stay safe!

Hello, Welcome My name is Patrinia Landrum and I am a self-taught abstract artist. I started painting years ago during the last recession. I had always had an interest in drawing and was a doodler. Always drawing. As a child I had an interest in drawing as well. When I started painting, I realized that I loved it and continued to paint on a regular basis. I am a painter that never runs out of creativity. If I have canvas, I'm painting. Conversation, Communication, Continuation, Consolidation, Consideration all play a part or is the basis for all my works of art. Happiness, love, romance, concern, joy, peace, dreams and other things inspire my work as well. I was told that I should share more of what inspires me so that people can relate to my work or understand my work and I find it difficult to do. It is difficult to share what moves you with those you don't know because you do not know how others will interpret the information. Well, my works are mostly inspired by the difficulty in communicating with a family member who (I do not want to say suffers) but they suffer from mental health issues that prevent them from communicating properly and respectfully at times.... really due to something that they had no part in. Creation. So, this is why I show grace beyond measure. I still insist that there is not anything in mind when starting a piece. Well, none that I am aware of on the surface. I just love to create things. I am a communicator and I believe that it is key to any successful relationship. I look at my technique or style as a way to put the words I would like to say on canvas, unknowingly. Because at some point I get lost in creating the piece once the unknown starts to form into something I can gauge and manipulate consciously. Well, when communication is bad, I paint, when it is good, I paint, but the driving force behind my works are greatly inspired by difficulties in communicating with this family member at times. Whether I recognize this at the start or not. I hope that my work brings you a sense of calm, comfort, warmth, love and happiness.
