I have always been fascinated by the elegance of minimalist design art. My early works were focused on landscapes and figurative themes, painted in oil on canvas. Over time, I shifted to acrylics, working on various surfaces, including canvas, hardboard, and mixed media. The Grey Zone is a series of works in which I predominantly use grey tones. It explores the paradox of waiting for something that never arrives, a state in which time seems suspended and the world stands still. This feeling of uncertainty, where nothing happens but everything is changing, is what I define as The Grey Zone. Through these works, I invite the viewer to stop and simply observe. Perhaps, in that quiet moment, a subtle revelation will emerge, and with it, a new clarity on how to move forward. “In the example of the works "Watchers" from the series "Grey Zone", we can see how artist Mir-Hamza Efendiyev explores themes of observation and introspection through abstract art. This series of works is dedicated to moments of waiting and uncertainty, reflected through abstract forms and monochrome tones. Efendiyev describes his works as an invitation to quiet observation, suggesting that contemplating these paintings might lead to new realizations and understanding. In "Watchers," the artist uses minimalist elements, focusing on the interaction between figures and space. Although the specific visual details of the painting are not provided, Efendiyev’s style is often characterized by simplicity and restraint, encouraging viewers to engage more deeply with the work. Monochrome shades and abstract forms in the painting open up broad possibilities for personal interpretation, allowing each viewer to find their own meaning within the piece. This art becomes a space for reflection on human experiences and emotions, giving viewers the opportunity to contemplate their own perceptions and insights.”
