Skill wise these aren’t my best calligraphy works. But style wise I like the spontaneity I put into it, and the fun I had with creating it. It wasn’t hard to come up with the idea of putting different amounts of arm power into strokes to make some of them look thicker while some slimmer. The character means quiet, calm, silence, motionless. I like the interpretation of motionless because i believe we all need motionless moments in life, without saying or doing something - lots of people are so anxious to do something, to stuff up their emptiness - both in time and in brain. Those who always find time not enough to do what they want, to learn what they need, brain not intelligent enough to understand the world, to create, are the ones who can really appreciate the value of motionlessness.

Yang Yang, also known as Yaang, grew up in Xi'an, Shaanxi. She fell in love with painting and colors at a young age but became a translator and an interpreter when she grew up. She has provided language support to many Hollywood producers and CEOs. Though years she has been developing painting skills, ranging from abstract ink painting and mixed medias such as ink, oil and acrylic. Her abstract expressionism styled works got selected by a domestic group exhibition of China in April, 2018. Many works of hers have been chosen as fabric patterns and prints of branded tees, hoodies, canvas bags and notebooks. “There’re no amateurs, those who bring beautiful art into the world are named artists. There’s no good art or bad art, there’s only art.” She said.
