About The Artwork
This painting is my interpretation of Caravaggio's "Baachus." Here I portray the god of wine in a more contemporary setting. I used a palette of bright, bold colors, including the blue of his hair, to capture a playful side of the character. Caravaggio is one of my favorite painters and I have spent many happy hours studying his work and learning from his compositions and lighting. As I have grown as an artist, I often find inspiration reimagining a classical subject in my own style and palette, and usually with a dash of pink!
