About The Artwork
My mother and I did not grow up together, though we have a relationship now. This is painted from a early photo of us together from the short time I did have her in my childhood. It’s painted in an experimental way in which I have pressed raw pigment into wet oil paint. The pigment is bright but delicate making the surface extra fragile. Only the most caring collector should have this painting because of the fragility of the material.

David is a recipient of the Chicago Artist Assistance Program Grant (2010), and a resident artist at Spudnik Press (2016). His work has also been featured in Barbed, Average Art, and WERKS magazines.
