About The Artwork
My mother used to cook for 11 of us in the family in a pot. It was as if the pot used to give life to the entire family. The food would be mashed in the pot with a long stick called 'muinduri' in an almost dancing rhythm. And then there were guards for the fermented kikuyu gruel. The general shapes and curves of the pots and guards in our house appeared to form wave motions i the air, and they would actually dance to their tune, My Dancing Pots.
