About The Artwork

During a family holiday I found myself coincidently on the same beach with my children that my parents used to take me to as a child and where my fathers ashes where spread. I was unable to be there and spent many years abroad so had not visited the spot. Whilst there I found this piece of driftwood and decided to slip it into the boot with the mind of doing something with it, I wasn't at that time sure what. On the return journey we where rear ended by a musician on his way to a gig, the back of the car was completely crushed but thanks in my opinion to this piece of wood the back seats where saved from collapsing in on my children. At that point I decided that this piece of wood had to in some way reference back to an interventional celestial being in honour of my father, not having the stomach to paint angles and the like I decide that the image of my children's grandfather as an astronaut was a suitable tale to tell my young boys about the Granddad they never meet.

As a multidisciplinary artist, I draw inspiration from the wild spirits of the natural world to create works that challenge traditional boundaries. My practice spans various mediums, including vintage cameras, painting, printmaking, and sculpture. My sculptural work uses found objects to create surreal and imaginative landscapes that evoke a sense of mystery and wonder. My passion for exploring the beauty of imperfection is reflected in my paintings, where I incorporate bold colours and expressive brushstrokes to capture the essence of the natural world. Ultimately, my work invites the viewer to connect with the wildness in us all and embrace the unknown.
